Welcome to Doland Jewelers
Doland Jewelers started in 1986 when owner Mike Doland followed his love of jewelry design and his dream of owning his own business by opening his first store overlooking the Mississippi River in small town Bellevue, Iowa.
As the business grew, Mike expanded Dolands by opening another store in nearby Maquoketa, Iowa in 1988. Then in 1991, Mike saw the opportunity to grow again and opened his first store in Dubuque, Iowa.
Three years later Mike moved the downtown Dubuque store to the growing west end.( Note: Each of these first four stores were beautifully painted and papered by his hard-working lovely wife Priscilla.)
Mike closed the Maquoketa store in 1998 to concentrate on the growing Dubuque business.
Then in 2000 Mike bought a free-standing building at 1735 John F. Kennedy Road and remodeled it to become the current Dubuque location.
In 2002 Mike made the difficult decision to close the original Bellevue store and expand into Davenport where he bought an existing jewelry store at 1611 W. Locust Street.
Mike's love of jewelry design and the art of jewelry making has always been at the heart of the business. The original one-man jewelry store now staffs eleven full time and part time employees including five designers and two watchmakers.
The second generation of Dolands is gradually become part of the business. Mike's son William is a graduate gemologist, designer and bench worker.
